Q&A

  • Briefly describe what you do all day (at work). Research, organize, take-offs, meetings, contact, map put, follow-ups, update, report, plan, repeat!
  • What’s the best thing about your job? Meeting new people and earning their trust.
  • What’s your favorite thing about the company? The people I get to work with who are like-minded people.
  • What’s your favorite memory at Ruppert? Being welcomed by my team and really feeling like one of them from the get-go.
  • What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this? I would love to own a flower and tree nursery. There is something about getting dirty and watching something you planted from seed or baby plant, and seeing it thrive and produce food or flowers.  I just love it.
  • What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now? A large retirement community that I have been building a relationship with since I started.
  • Who has been your greatest mentor and why? Leona Fisher. She was the first boss who pushed me to elevate myself even when I didn’t think that was what I wanted. She was my boss first and then a friend, but was never scared to be my boss.  I would watch her let her team take the praise for jobs well done and never once boast she was the reason, which she was.  Always teaching and always leading by example. She definitely pushed me to be the person I am today and I will never forget her.  Everyone needs a leader like Lee!
  • What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession? Don’t take “NO” personally!
  • What inspires you? Getting my cumulative to-do list checked off. I feel very inspired when that happens.
  • How do you define success? Movement in a positive forward motion, no matter how small the movement.
  • What is your proudest/favorite moment of your Ruppert career so far? Getting my first real sale with no help from anyone.
  • What’s your favorite movie and why? Serendipity, because neither person gave up looking for each other and knew it was the right thing and went for it no matter how crazy or scary it seemed. Chick Flick!!!
  • What would you name the autobiography of your life? Trial, Error, REPEAT!
  • What are you passionate about? Gardening from seed in my greenhouse.
  • If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Pay off any debt my parents have, set up a trust fund for my kids and take a two-week vacation. Still keep my job, though.
  • How do you balance your career and family? A running to-do list and schedule.
  • How do you like to spend your free time? Gardening or reading.
  • Do you have any hobbies? I like to knit and cycle, but not at the same time. That would be nuts!
  • What is your favorite family tradition? Staying up until midnight on Christmas Eve then opening one Christmas present under the tree.
  • If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? To speak Spanish fluently.
  • Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why? England. I was able to see so much with my boyfriend and our kids. Also, I was able to meet his childhood friends and most of his family including his grandparents; his Granddad is 93 and his Grandmum was 89 (she has since passed). Monica pictured right with her boyfriend and daughters.
  • Where’s your favorite family vacation location? Christmas break in the Poconos as a kid. We would sleep in a camper (no heat) and cook all our food on the campfire.  Oh, the best was using an outhouse for the loo.  My parents own six acres of undeveloped land and it is lovely.
  • Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad, but it turned out to be for the best? Getting laid off from a job and realizing how strong I was and that I could make it through because I had saved and was prepared for my daughter and myself. I ended up where I was supposed to be, which is Ruppert.
  • What three traits define you? Positive, Loyal, Trustworthy…are you sure you only want 3?
  • What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13? Love what you do, do what you love and SAVE your money!
  • If you could be any animal, which would you be and why? I would love to be one of my dogs.  They are so spoiled and have a great life!
