3350 Peachtree

Location: Atlanta, GA
Installed By: Georgia Installation Branch
Awards Won: NALP Gold Award/LCA Grand Award
Category: Commercial Landscape Construction

Description: 3350 Peachtree is a Class A office building, nestled in the heart of Buckhead’s financial district. The building, originally built in 1989, was uniquely situated to take advantage of two initiatives (PATH400 and HUB404) designed to create a more connected, sustainable and vibrant Buckhead area within Atlanta. These projects aim to create a 5+ mile greenway and a 9-acre park that will be built over a roadway to create a bridged connectivity with Atlanta’s mass transit hub. Their goal is to provide valuable green space, recreation opportunities, and encourage multimodal transportation options, improving the quality of life for residents and enhancing the visitor experience. To capitalize on the project’s unique position, a new 1-acre outdoor plaza was designed to span atop an expanded parking structure. The inspiration for the design came from the future Hub404 highway cap project and the paintings of Roberto Burle Marx, a Brazilian landscape architect, artist, and ecologist renowned for his modernist garden designs. The project’s intention was to pique the curiosity of those living in surrounding buildings and encourage them to visit the space—which has various seating and working areas along with multiple open areas for gatherings.

Scope: To bring this project to fruition, we performed a substantial amount of concrete flatwork including the installation of 22,000 lbs. of rebar, 40,000 SF of wire mesh, 14,000 LF of expansion joints and 1225 CY of multi-colored concrete. In addition, we installed 12,000 LF of concrete walls/stairs, 2100 tons of stone, 490 CY of soil, 2650 CY of soil amendment, over 35,000 SF of filter fabric, drainage pipe and channel drains, an irrigation system, over $100,000 worth of site amenities, 19,000 SF of Bermuda seed, 3215 SF of synthetic turf, 3300 shrubs, 7800 perennials and 95 trees.

Fair Hill Racetrack & Special Event Zone

Location: Elkton, MD
Maintained By: Toughkenamon, PA Maintenance Branch
Awards Won: NALP Gold Award/LCA Distinction Award
Category: Commercial Landscape Maintenance

Description: Built in 2019, the Fair Hill Racetrack and Special Event Area now serves as a world-class venue for the Maryland 5 Star equestrian competition. In addition, the turf track inside the Fair Hill Special Event Zone reopened to racing on Aug. 30, 2025 following the completion of an infrastructure modernization project, which included the construction of a sand-based turf course of Kentucky bluegrass and state-of-the-art irrigation system. This course is the first course of its kind in Maryland. The August “Races at Fair Hill” event, hosted by the Sport & Entertainment Corporation of Maryland and the Cecil County Breeders Fair, marks the return of live racing after a six-year hiatus following a pause in racing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and track reconstruction. The new course, designed for flat racing, steeplechase, and eventing, includes advanced drainage and rootzone systems for durability. These events demand optimal footing and aesthetics, which means the landscape must be maintained to the highest possible standards. Safety, surface consistency, and visual appeal are paramount to ensure an elite and memorable experience for competitors and spectators alike.

Scope: Ruppert Landscape maintains over 100 acres of turf at Fair Hill with precision irrigation across 122 zones, more than 18 annual fertility treatments, and regular aeration and topdressing. Daily moisture monitoring, compaction and firmness testing, and data-driven adjustments support the sand-based Kentucky bluegrass track, ensuring safe footing, resilient turf, and premier aesthetics for international equestrian events and flat racing.
