At Ruppert Landscape, our commitment to professional development and technical excellence is at the core of how we serve our clients. This past December, several members of our irrigation team achieved an important milestone by passing the national certification exams through the Irrigation Association (IA). We are proud to recognize these individuals for their dedication to advancing their knowledge and skills in the irrigation profession.

Last week, these team members were formally recognized during our annual irrigation training, where they received a Ruppert Irrigation Coin in honor of their accomplishment.
Why Certification Matters
Industry certifications play a critical role in advancing both individual careers and the irrigation profession as a whole. The Irrigation Association’s Select Certified program has set the standard for irrigation professionals for decades, validating both technical knowledge and real-world experience through rigorous testing and continuing education requirements. Certification demonstrates credibility, commitment, and competency—qualities that benefit employers, clients, and the industry overall.
Certification also creates tangible opportunities. Many projects increasingly require certified professionals, and credentials can help differentiate companies in competitive markets while opening doors to new responsibilities and career growth. Additionally, certified professionals may qualify for programs such as EPA WaterSense partnerships, which can provide further business advantages and demonstrate a commitment to water efficiency.
Perhaps most importantly, certification supports better outcomes for clients and communities. Certified irrigation professionals are trained in the latest technologies and best management practices, including smart controllers, water conservation strategies, and efficient system design. This knowledge helps ensure irrigation systems operate effectively while protecting water resources—an increasingly important priority across our industry.
Investing in Excellence
We commend Bogart, Wesley, Gustavo, Nick, William, McKenna, and Matthew for the time, effort, and dedication required to achieve these certifications. Preparing for and passing a national exam requires significant commitment outside of daily responsibilities, and their achievement reflects both personal initiative and professional pride.
We would also like to recognize those with existing certifications:
- Benjamin Williams, CIT (Richmond North, VA)
- Edgar Reyes Hernandez, CIT (Durham, NC)
- Javonte Richards, CIT (Forestville, MD)
- Joseph Beretz, Texas Licensed Irrigator (Houston, TX)
- Michael Thomas, CIT (Durham, NC)
- Timothy McCotter, CIT & CIC (Gainesville, VA)
- Timothy Whitley, CIT (Orlando, FL)
- Scott Schoffstall Cit, CLIA, CIC (Regional)
We believe investing in our people ultimately benefits our clients. By supporting continuing education and certification, we strengthen our technical capabilities, improve service quality, and reinforce our reputation as an industry leader.
Congratulations again to our newly certified team members—we look forward to the continued impact you will make across our organization.
