Expanding Our Reach

By: Paul Pestun, Director of Business Development

You may already know that we have branch locations throughout Maryland, D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas, but did you know that we also have a national branch in our landscape construction division? Our national branch, based out of our corporate office in Laytonsville, MD, serves large-scale landscape construction projects that are outside of our current geographic footprint. We are currently working on projects located in Oklahoma, Connecticut, Kentucky, and more.

Current national landscape projects include Oklahoma City Downtown Park (top), University of Kentucky’s research facility (middle), and the SoNo Collection, one of Connecticut’s newest malls (bottom).

The typical project scope on national work involves everything from landscape to hardscape, irrigation to water features, as well as carpentry and other site furnishings. We seek out full-scope projects—those that encompass all possible aspects of the job, instead of just one or two tasks. The larger and more complex a project is, the better chance we have of winning the project and building it successfully. These operations are managed by seasoned Ruppert professionals with a proven history of carrying out successful large-scale projects.

Our goal is not to have a branch in every major city, but rather to be the preferred contractor for large-scale/complex projects, no matter where they are located in the U.S. By utilizing our national branch to serve clients outside our geographic footprint, we are to be responsive to our customers, expand our reach and keep our existing branch locations and the regional work they perform more concentrated. An added benefit is that we are able to build relationships with property owners, general contractors, landscape architects, vendors, and trade partners from all over the country, and those relationships benefit all of our branches and help us grow our business in existing markets.

There is no limit to where our national landscape branch can take us, and it’s always exciting to find out what city we’ll be working in next!
